They remind the world that the "L," the "G," and the "B" are fighting for the freedom to love authentically. But the "T" is fighting for the freedom to be authentically. Learning from that history—and ensuring it never repeats—is the only way forward. The rainbow is not complete without the trans flag’s blue, pink, and white. In fact, it never was.

For Black trans women, this fetishization is a double-edged sword. On one hand, they are objectified and desired for a physical stereotype that often brings violence and harassment. On the other, those who do not fit this "thick" or "curvy" ideal are often completely invisible or dismissed. This creates a horrible trap: their bodies are either fetishized or erased, but rarely are they simply seen as whole, normal people with their own inner lives.

Authentic representation means listening to Black trans creators, writers, and artists. It means celebrating the successes of figures like (author and filmmaker), Laverne Cox (actress and activist), Ts Madison (TV host and producer), and Angelica Ross (actress and tech entrepreneur). It means following their work, amplifying their voices, and supporting their projects.
